This blog really got me hooked into the whole "blog world." One of the things I love about Karla is that she doesn't necessarily follow trends, she is her own woman. I found this image the other day and I find it really pretty(not a word I use often), weird, but that's just what I see-pretty. I thought I'd share. The model is almost lost in the real life beauty that surrounds her- it took me a minute to realize she was even there.
So, it is/was fashion week in New York. I was hoping to be there this year, visiting friends and possibly spying the uproar that is this NY Fashion Week. I have a feeling it would all be too overwhelming and beyond the reality of my life. But I am still curious. I've been peacefully sneaking around the mayhem through the eyes of others- Nightly checking my favorite blogs- One it particular that I recommend : Garance Dore, at first appearance, she is all too far fabulous for the real world; but in fact, she is really just that...beautiful, stylish, talented and if you read her posts, funny, charming and real. Not only do I love her photographs, I can only wish I had her talent for illustrations and in a silly way (I've never actually met her) she is an inspiration to me. (Read her post on all the jobs she had held in getting to her dream job.)
By the way, I'm sure my punctuation is atrocious.

So, my focus has switched from interiors back to fashion. I'm telling you, it happens all the time. I spent about 2 hours last night cleaning and organizing my shoes. I really need a new rack system. I'm sure what I have going is fine, I just really like to see all my shoes. I try to be an equal opportunity shoe wearer. So, other than shoes...I have been obsessed with this Celine jacket for a while now. I have seen a preview for H&Ms fall line and I spy a resemblance in one of their jackets. This is good news for me...I can't imagine spending a months rent (or more) on an item of clothing.

A little while ago I watched "Pirate Radio." I know it's been out for quite some time now, but I don't go to the movies. I prefer to cuddle on the couch with the new releases. I loved this movie. I want to live this movie. What could be better. Great clothes, amazing music, inspiring interiors (on a boat no less) and fighting for something you believe in. When the mom was coming up on the boat in the houndstooth cape I about died. She was beautiful. It was hard to find good pictures, but since I'm sure you've all already seen it, you can visualize. P.S. There's some real pirate radio photos of Radio Caroline mixed in.

This house has long been a favorite of mine. I recently went through a stack of magazine pages I had torn out and saved and came across this story. The house is so grand and it seems that around every corner is something that just takes your breath away. I love the waterfall coming from the ceiling and cascading over the stump right in the middle of the room. The ceiling work in amazing.

So, If you've read my profile, you will note that my love of vintage was born in the attic of my grandmother's house. My amazing, and firery grandmother is no longer with me, and I miss her so. I wish I had a picture with me to post. My Nana had a very refined, sure sense of style. One of the many things that stands out in my memory were her gardening shoes. She had a pretty pair of white leather sandals with beading or a nice fresh pair of keds waiting for the different degrees to which she might be working in the soil. My yard work shoes are a pair of old Rite Aid shoes that I have worn to death and should no longer be seen in public. I still dream that one day I will be as classy as my grandmother. I think of her often. I never realized what an influence she had on my life until I no longer had her around to thank. With all that said, I think these days we as a society turn our back on the older generation. Sometimes we forget how living a full life leads to experience, wisdom, insight and a true sense of self. I believe we can learn a lot from the older crowd. So, in saying that, I recommend you check out the blog www.advancedstyle.blogspot.com . It puts a smile on my face everytime.

I go through phases every now and again. Some weeks I spend my time searching out shoes and bags, sometimes clothing, and right now, I stay up late looking at back issues of my collection of shelter magazines. This is one room in particular that has beeen in the back of my head since the day I saw it. It comes from the UK magazine Living Etc.
